Caribbean Media Awards

September 17th, 2009 – Toronto, Canada

Dear members of the media:

On behalf of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), it is with great pleasure that we announce the upcoming Caribbean Media Awards ceremony scheduled to take place during Caribbean Week in Canada 2009, October 23 – November 1, 2009. The awards will be announced on Friday, October 30 during the Caribbean Media Awards Luncheon at the Fermenting Room, in the Distillery District in Toronto.

We’d like to ask for your help in celebrating your wonderful work and dedication to the promotion of the Caribbean by providing us with your most compelling media placements. We are also soliciting submissions from National Tourist Offices (NTO) throughout Canada and hope you will consider submitting your work directly to us for judging. The awards will honor the best of the best feature print and broadcast placements and photography from Canadian media outlets that have truly captured the essence of the Caribbean in their storytelling. The following media categories will be recognized:

  1. Best Feature Article in a Consumer Newspaper – Canada
  2. Best Feature Article in a Consumer Magazine – Canada
  3. Best Feature Article in a Trade Publication – Canada
  4. Best Online Feature – Canada
  5. Best Feature Broadcast – Canada
  6. Best Photograph in Conjunction with a Feature Article – Canada
  7. Best in Show – Canada

We are in the process of enlisting a panel of judges from the hospitality, literary and media fields to judge each submission based on the criteria outlined in the attached document. All entries must be submitted to Lou Hammond & Associates by e-mail or regular mail by Friday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. EST.

A full description of criteria and submission guidelines is included below. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Additional information about Caribbean Week in Canada is available online at www.caribbeanweek.ca.
