Chris Robinson’s professional background is rooted in travel, commencing in the UK with a Geography degree from Cambridge University in the mid 70’s. He was General Manager at Thomson Holidays, the world’s largest Tour Operator, and after positions with Diner’s Club UK, Avis Europe and Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, Chris moved back to Tour Operating in 1991 as General Manager of Sovereign Holidays. He helped re-launch the group as First Choice Holidays in 1994 and the following year managed a similar corporate re-launch of the company’s Canadian Tour Operations into Signature Vacations. For six years Chris was the National Marketing Director at Signature, and in 2001 he moved to lead the marketing team at Sunquest Vacations as Marketing Vice President for MyTravel Canada, now part of Thomas Cook.

In 2004 Chris set up his own company, Chris Robinson Associates, which provides consulting services to the Canadian travel industry and produces the most listened-to travel shows on Canadian radio: the Chris Robinson Travel Shows on Newstalk 1010 CFRB Toronto and CJAD 800 Montreal. He advised the Canadian Tourism Commission on their Canada Marketing Committee for ten years and is currently on the Board and Treasurer of Discover America Canada. He is a professional travel writer, co-author of an industry textbook, “Marketing for Tourism”, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Travel and Tourism and of the Royal Geographical Society.
